Quantum Computing has recently been a very hot topic. Be it Google, IBM, or AMD, every company wants to get in on the action happening in the field. In companies traditionally not in the field of computing such as Honeywell have dived into the field of Quantum Computing with both feet. This should be enough to signify the importance and potential of Quantum Computing. However, when it comes to Quantum Computing, IBM has held a very important and special spot in the field. There is little doubt that IBM leads the world of Quantum Computing. One of the reasons IBM has been able to maintain its position is by working actively with the community. This time, IBM is organizing the IBM Quantum Challenge Africa 2021.
Just don’t close the post yet! Though the challenge is designed for Africa, it is open for everyone! Keep Reading.
To ensure that Africa is able to solve the problems related to Africa, IBM is making efforts to include more Africans in the field of Quantum Computing. To achieve this, the IBM Research Lab in South Africa is partnering with the University of the Witwatersrand for developing the IBM Quantum Challenge Africa 2021. The challenge will focus on the fields of optimization, finance, and chemistry. The aim will be to boost the Quantum Computing skills of the participants by giving them access to the tools that can be used to solve real-world problems by using Quantum Computing Technology.
The exercises in the IBM Quantum Challenge Africa 2021 have been developed by African Researchers in the field of Quantum Computing for African learners, researchers, and industry professionals.
Having prior knowledge about Quantum Computing is not necessary as the challenge focuses on its application to already existing classical problems.
The challenge will start from 12:30 PM on 9th September and will last till 4:30 AM on 21st September, Indian Standard Time.
You can register for the challenge by using your IBM id.
