The previous decade saw an exponential rise in the capabilities and advancement of Intelligent Systems, especially Deep Learning. This rise is commonly attributed to increased availability of data, faster computation(by the use of hardware accelerators), and advancements in the algorithms for training Deep Learning models. However, along with an increase in capabilities of the state-of-the-art models, there has also been an increase in concerns related to the security, interpretability, trustworthiness, fairness, and transparency of Machine Learning models. This is even more true for Black Box models such as Neural Networks which are highly sophisticated.
For these reasons, fields such as Explainable AI(XAI), Fair AI, and Secure AI have been gaining a lot of traction in recent years. IEEE is launching the first edition of the Conference on Secure and Trustworthy Machine Learning, SaTML which will be happening over 3 days in 2023 from 8-10 February. The location of the conference is yet to be revealed.
The SaTML conference will feature people from various top institutions and organizations working on Artificial Intelligence.
This conference will expand on the theoretical and practical understandings of vulnerabilities inherent to ML systems, explore the robustness of ML algorithms and systems, and aid in developing a unified, coherent scientific community which aims to build trustworthy ML systems.
