Quantum Computing has been gaining a lot of traction in recent years with many big tech companies and several startups having a roadmap for several thousand Qubit Quantum Computers by the end of the decade. Quantum Computers hold the promise to solve problems even the most sophisticated supercomputers of today cannot solve. Applications include, but are not restricted to Quantum Chemistry, Simulations, Drug Discovery, and Machine Learning. Quantum Computers also hold the potential to break Public Key Encryption that is used extensively to secure communications on over the internet. However, only a very few people understand Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Computing. To improve the understanding of this complicated topic of Quantum Computing, IBM, one of the leaders in the Quantum Computing space has recently launched the Qiskit Quantum Explorers Program.
About the Qiskit Quantum Explorers
“Quantum Explorers is a self-paced, gamified quantum computing learning program for high school students and above. It is beginner-friendly, though it increases in difficulty as achievements are unlocked. The theme of the learning journey is space exploration”.
The Qiskit Quantum Explorers Program comprises study materials, seminars, gamified achievements to unlock, and career advice. The participants will gain a general understanding of quantum computing, along with some of its applications such as quantum machine learning and quantum optimization.
“There are six themed achievements to unlock, with corresponding Badges to collect. Each Badge has a learning module, event, or set of tasks associated with it that must be completed in order to unlock its achievement”.
The entire program will take place virtually over a dedicated Discord Server, the invite link to which will be contained in the attendee guide which will be shared with the individual on their verified email address.
The program will go live in August 2022 and will go on till February 2023. Further, this program will lead up to ICPC’s Algo Queen in February 2023, a competitive programming cup sponsored by IBM Quantum.
Registration for the Qiskit Quantum Explorers Program opens to the general public on August 1, 2022, at 6 PM IST (8: 30 PM EDT).
